Currently Sky Poker offers three game types of Texas Hold'em poker: fixed limit, pot limit and no limit. Please see below for further explanation

Fixed Limit Poker

In a game of fixed limit poker, the size of your bet is limited subject to certain game rules.

For example:

In a £5/£10 table the bets and raises for the first 2 rounds are limited to £5 and for the last 2 rounds limited to £10. In each round of betting there can only be one bet and three raises: bet, raise, re-raise, re-raise. After the three raises the betting round is capped. The next community cards are then automatically dealt.

Actions

Bet Amount

Pre-flop or before the flop

£5

On the flop (when the first three community cards have been dealt)

£5

On the turn (when the fourth community card has been dealt)

£10

On the river (when the fifth and final community card has been dealt)

£10

Pot-Limit Poker

In pot limit poker players may bet any amount from the size of the blind to the size of the pot. The pot includes the sum of all bets and raises made during the current betting round.

For example:

The pot in the centre of the table contains £100.

On the next betting round the following happens:

Player 1 bets £20

Player 2 calls £20

Player 3 calls £20

Player 4 wants to raise so this means they can call the initial £20 and then this means the pot total is £180. So the total raise for player 4 would be £200.

No-Limit Poker

In no limit poker players may bet any amount that they like but it must be in excess of the big blind up to the maximum amount they have in their hand. If they bet all of their chips this is know as 'All In'.

If 2 or more players go all in and the players have different amounts of chips/money, then the maximum a player can win off each of the other players is equal to their own bet.

For example:

Player 1 1000
Player 2 2000
Player 3 2500

If each of these players went all in and player 1 had the best hand followed by player 2, player 1 would win 1000 chips off each player, player 2 would win 1000 chips off player 3 and player 3 would have 500 chips returned.
